Deceased individual found west of Postville

   POSTVILLE – The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department reported Wednesday that a deceased individual had been located along the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railway right of way west of the intersection of Empire Drive and Highway 18 west of Postville.

   The report did not indicate a cause of death, though it indicated that foul play was not suspected and that there was no danger to the public. It said the individual had apparently been deceased for a length of time.

   The individual was transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and an autopsy.

   Assisting the Sheriff’s Department at the scene were Postville Police, Postville Fire-Rescue, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Allamakee County Medical Examiner’s Office, CPKC Railway officials and CPKC Railway Police.
