Michael Krambeer

Michael Krambeer, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family. Mike had been struggling with Pulmonary Fibrosis for several years. He was born on March 29, 1947 in the Postville Hospital. Mike was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. He graduated from Postville High School in 1965 and attended Wayne State for one year and then attended Iowa State until he enlisted into the United States Navy in 1967. Mike married Janice Louise Hanna in 1967. Later in 1996, they separated. During his naval service, Mike was attached to a fighter squadron where he was trained to repair the fighter F4J radar. His squadron was deployed to three Mediterranean Cruises. During his Naval career, Mike received Sailor of the quarter Fighter Squadron VF-41 and Sailor of the month Attack Carrier Air Wing 6. Also, he was nominated for sailor of the year. After his military service, Mike, Jan and their three children farmed, raising swine and milking cows. In 1980, Mike became president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association. In 1995, their livestock were sold and they continued to crop farm.

In 1999, Mike married the love of his life, Barbara Burleson. For the next 26 years, along with crop farming, Mike worked for a medical company as an Assistive Technology Specialist, working in Decorah, Dubuque and La Crosse. He was very fortunate to go on several mission trips with his wife Barb. One memorable trip to Guadalajara was with an Occupational Therapist friend, Greg from Gundersen Health Care. Mike and Greg fit 100 manual rehab wheelchairs to children with Cerebral Palsy.

Mike loved his Church and Church family. He served on the council, various committees, and taught Sunday School. Mike was a 4-H leader and in later years was Adjutant of American Legion.

Mike enjoyed fishing, auto racing, farming, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife Barb and his wonderful family whom he loved dearly; children, John (Susan) Krambeer, Kari (David) Kehm and Juli Krambeer-Knutson; step-children, Bridget (Willis) Breska, Adam Kupietz, Nick (Angie) Kupietz and Kristen (Davin) Lindow; grandchildren, Tyler Krambeer, Jessica Krambeer, Jillian Krambeer, Nathan (Anna) Funk, Hannah Funk, Nicolas Funk, Mara (Zach) Dawley, Arianna (Rugby) Sliger, Tanner Knutson, Isabella (Brock) Knutson, Briana (Philive) Civil, Bret Aspenson (Ayyanna), Nathan Breska (Tristin), William Breska, Quincy Kupietz, Caspian Kupietz, Sunyana Kupietz, Jocelyn Kupietz, Drew Kupietz, Hallie Kupietz, Kaden Kupietz, Liam Kupietz, Maria Kupietz, Lilly Kupietz, Thomas Lindow, Amelia Lindow and Sarabella Lindow; and great-grandchildren, Ayda, Ryder, Luella, lrelynn, and Westin.

He is also survived by his brothers, Ed (Margaret) Krambeer, David (Phyllis) Krambeer, Jeff (Edith Searles) Krambeer; his sister, Danna Krambeer; Brother-in-law, John Slaby; Sister-in-law, Deb Slaby (Michael); and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Rosalyn Krambeer; his mother--in-law, Maria Slaby-Benson; his brother, Kevin Krambeer; sister-in-law, Chris Krambeer; and his niece, Brenda Krambeer.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Fellowship Hall in Postville, Iowa. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Saturday and guests are asked to be seated before the start of the funeral.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant.

Inurnment with Military Rites will follow at Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
