Mental Health Awareness events to be held at NEIAWRC

Northeast Iowa Wellness & Recreation Center is working with local providers and Alive & Running Iowa to bring two mental health awareness presentations to Postville and the surrounding area.

On Thursday May 7th at 6:30 p.m. NEIAWRC Community Room

Mental Health Awareness Presentation with a Make it Ok presentation, also joining us will be local mental health professionals Tara Fink with Veterans Memorial Hospital and Allie Schultz with Lighthouse Professional Counseling. We will then have light refreshments, resources and activities.

At 7:30 p.m. we will have a showing of the movie My Ascension

The movie is being shown in collaboration with Alive & Running Iowa.

My Ascension is a film to spread hope and fight suicide. Parents/Guardians we strongly encourage attendance with your youth due to the sensitive information with this topic.

Then on May 30th from 6-8 p.m. Ryan Nesbit, co-founder of Alive and Running Iowa will return to have QPR Training. QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is just like CPR, in an emergency response to someone in crisis and CAN save lives. APR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training in the world.

This training is free to all attendees.

Ryan has previously done trainings for the following: 7- 12 grade students, teachers, counselors, nursing students, college athletes, church staff and volunteers, police, prison/jail guards and public trainings.
