The Postville School District will be holding a Special Election on Tuesday, March 4, to fill a school board vacancy and specify the use of Postville School revenue.

There will be two different polling places depending on where voters live within the school district.

The voting place for voters who live in the Postville Community School District and reside in Allamakee County or Fayette County is the Turner Hall Community Center at 119 E Greene Street, in Postville.

Clayton County residents’ voting place is also Turner Hall in Postville. Qualified voters in Clayton County are voters who reside in one of the following townships: Grand Meadow, Marion, Monona, Wagner, and Postville.

Winneshiek County residents’ voting place is Ossian Community Center, located at 123 W Main Street, Ossian.

Polling places at both locations will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

As a reminder, items on the ballot will be as follows:

To elect a person to fill the vacancy on the Postville Community School District’s board of directors;

A Revenue Purpose Statement that will specify the use of revenue the Postville Community School District receives from the State of Iowa Secure and Advance Vision for Education Fund.

Postville School District Superintendent Brendan Knudtson would like to remind the public that the Revenue Purpose Statement is not a vote to increase tax revenue, but rather a vote for how revenue is going to be used.
