Postville NHS selling carnations to support area causes

With Valentine’s Day less than a month away, remembering those we care about with flowers, is always a heart-warming gesture sure to bring a smile to the recipients’ faces. When purchasing flowers from the local National Honor Society chapter, purchasers can also help support those in need when purchasing colorful carnations for their Valentines.
National Honor Society advisor Annette Frey explained, “NHS is hosting a carnation sale to benefit the Postville Food Pantry, the Northeast Iowa Humane Society and a local community member who is in need of assistance.”
NHS members will be selling red, white and pink carnations between Jan. 26-Feb. 6. To order one or more carnations contact any member of NHS or email Frey at afrey@postville.k12.ia.us. NHS members will also have a booth set up at home basketball games and wrestling meets between now and the deadline. Online orders are also being accepted on the school website by clicking on the activities tab.
Frey noted, “We will be delivering carnations Thursday, February 12 to students, staff and locations within the Postville city limits. Orders outside the city limits will be accepted as well; however, the purchaser will have to pick up their flowers at school.”
The cost of a single carnation is $3 while two flowers may be purchased for $5.
Frey reiterated, “One hundred percent of the sales will be donated to the causes we have chosen. It is our goal to brighten someone’s day and support the Postville Community, one flower at a time.”
