The residents and staff at The Good Samaritan Society, Postville Center, celebrated John Deere Day Friday, June 5. The Koenig family brought several John Deere tractors to the Center for the occasion. Among the tractors on display was the 1959 JD 730 Ruby and Loren Koenig used when they were farming. Ruby is currently a resident at Good Sam and was joined for the event by her sons, Roger, Mike and Dennis.

The sons all have deep roots with John Deere. Roger Koenig, retired from Bodensteiner Implement after 35 years of service; Mike, is a 27 year employee of Bodensteiner where he continues to work with John Deere equipment and Dennis uses all John Deere equipment in his farming operation. The brothers brought their John Deere tractors for the residents to enjoy.

There was also a John Deere display set up inside the Center and a decorated John Deere themed cake was served. It was noted that John Deere donated several face shields to the Center for the staff to wear to help them remain safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation is much appreciated.
