The Postville High School drama department will present “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” this weekend in the Fine Arts and Civic Center.

Based on the book by Roald Dahl and dramatized by Richard R. George, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” follows the story of Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who wins a golden ticket to tour the mysterious and magical chocolate factory owned by the eccentric Willy Wonka.  Along with four other children, Charlie embarks on a fantastical journey through the factory, where he encounters strange inventions and magical treats.

Director Derek Friederich said, “The students have been working very hard to learn their parts, and this has been an excellent group of students to work with this school year.  We have some returning actors and crew, and we also had a fair number of seventh-graders out for acting roles, as well as several new eighth-grade members trying tech crew for the first time.”

Friederich added, “Enter a world of pure imagination and join us for this scrumdiddlyumptious production!”

The stage curtain will lift at Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. Admission is $3.
