Phyllis Ann (Mork) Frieden
Phyllis Ann Frieden, 90, of Waukon, Iowa passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Waukon. Phyllis was born September 24, 1934 to Enock and Selma (Gjefle) Mork in Luana,Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Phyllis attended country schools in Postville and Luana and attended Postville High School.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Raymond Frieden. Four children were born to this union (Cindy, Crystal, Julie and Jeffrey). Phyllis worked at the S&S IGA and Hanson’s Variety in Postville. She also worked for Iowa Turkey Products and Monona Wire. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Phyllis enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and she loved to sew and quilt.
Surviving Phyllis are her four children, Cindy (Wade) Johnson of Grimes, Iowa, Cris (Brad) Glawe of Elkader, Iowa, Julie Cook of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Jeff (Leonda) Frieden of Wapello, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; siblings, Tennis (Joan) Mork of Waukee, Iowa, Bona (Chuck) Thorson of West Union, Iowa, and Diane (Marvin) Berg of West Union, Iowa; sister-in-law LeAnna (Harold) Hanson and Sharnel (Roger) Frieden; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on April 26, 1977; parents, Enock and Selma Mork; and her siblings, Don Mork, Cliff Mork, Gene Mork, Carol Buckley, and Gwendolyn Harris.
There will be a private family graveside service held at the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader, Iowa, is assisting the family with services.
