Pamela ‘Pam’ Joan Gordon

Pamela ‘Pam’ Joan Gordon, 66, passed away Jan. 21, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She had resided in Clayton County most of her adult years.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pam was born on Sept. 24, 1958 in Somers Point, New Jersey. She spent her early years in Chula Vista, California before moving to Iowa in December, 1974. Throughout her life, she embraced a spirit of care and generosity that touched many.

Pam dedicated much of her life to caring for others. As a compassionate caretaker, she intuitively met the needs of those she served, becoming not just a caregiver, but also a cherished presence in their families. Her kindness extended beyond people – she had a deep love for animals and the environment. She was also known for her mastery of cleaning techniques, possessing an arsenal of clever and effective methods that made her an expert in her field. Her love of baking was evident in those she sustained. She most recently was employed by Ewalu Bible Camp in both food service and housekeeping.

A true artist at heart, Pam found joy in making pottery and watercolor painting. She had an eye for beauty and a passion for collecting rocks, always seeing something special in the treasures she discovered. Whether riding her motorcycle or e-bike, she embraced adventure with enthusiasm. Her love for treasure hunting reflected her ability to find value and wonder in the world around her.

Pam is survived by her siblings, Rodney Gordon of Postville, Denise Thornton (Dan) of McGregor and Dean Gordon (Cindy) of Luana. Her special bond with her nieces and nephews – Rebecca Rodemeier (Kit) of Imperial, Missouri, Chad Thornton (Tonya) of McGregor, Erin Thornton (Brad) or Waukon, Nathan Jones of Minneapolis, Jaycee Burnikel (Cody) of Cresco and Jessi Gordon (Dylan) of Cresco - will never be forgotten. Pam also had a special relationship with her godchildren, Taneasha Brown (Brian) or Elkader and Brandon Brown of Littleport. She is also survived by her Auntie Nadine Nicholls of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Auntie Sandra Brinkman (Glen) of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Auntie Donna Meeker (Don) of Coalsdale, Alberta, Canada, as well as many cousins from the United States and Canada. Other survivors are her ex-husband, James Russell of Elkader, and special friend Rowdy Cuff of Manchester. We are always amazed at how they continue to care for each other, even after their close relationships change.

She was preceded in death by her parents Patricia and Duane Gordon as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents, and special friend Warren Timmerman.

Pam’s presence will be deeply missed by her family and a host of special friends who were fortunate to be part of her circle. Her resilience and warmth left a lasting impact on those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
