Marvel Maxine Morch
Marvel Maxine Morch, 99, of Decorah, Iowa formerly of Postville, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa. Maxine was born April 24, 1922 to Arno and Bernadine (Brandtman) Doerring on the farm South of Luana, Iowa. She was baptized on June 18, 1922 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luana and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Maxine went to school at Luana Consolidated School through the eighth grade. She helped her parents on their farm until she met and married Leo H. Morch on December 8, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa.
Maxine and Leo lived and worked side by side on their farm two miles North of Postville on Highway 51 for over forty years until they retired and moved to town. Leo passed away December 7, 2001. Maxine moved to assisted living at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa in September of 2011, she moved to the nursing home side of Wellington Place in April 2013, where she lived until she passed away.
Maxine enjoyed sewing clothes and quilts, always had a garden and did a lot of crocheting.
Surviving Maxine are her three daughters, Marcine (Roger) Nelson, Beverly (Leslie) Shersick and Patricia (Roger) Timp; sister, Inez Moon; brother, Roland Doerring; sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Doerring and Elaine Doerring; brother-in-law, Herbert Morch; sister-in-law, Jane Morch; grandchildren, Chad (Melinda) Nelson, Jeremy Nelson, Karen (Jeff) Patty, Kathy (Brian) Lyons, David (Jenni) Shersick, Brian Timp, Bradley (Tamara) Timp, Barry (Jennifer) Timp and Ben (Sarah) Timp; fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Leo H. Morch; brothers, Oliver Doerring and James Doerring; sister, Eunice Dickman; sisters-in-law, Marlene Doerring, Rose Foels, Evelyn Foels and Jeleen Bilden; and brothers-in-law, Dwayne Moon, Merle Dean Dickman, Walter Foels and Millard Bilden.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant.
Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.
