Marlene Klocke was born April 22, 1935, in Jefferson Township, Allamakee County, IA, the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Palas) Mohs. She attended school in Luana and Postville and graduated from Postville High School in 1954. On June 4, 1954, she married James Klocke at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA; they were married for 66 years.

Being a spouse of a Navy man, Marlene had to move a lot. Besides living in Postville, the family lived in El Centro, Imperial Beach, CA, and Pensacola, FL, moving back to Postville in 1970. Marlene was a homemaker while Gary and Barbara were growing up; once the children were grown, Marlene went to work at Iowa Turkey Product plant in Postville. She worked there for about 30 years. Marlene also helped on the farm, driving the tractor during haying season. In 2015, they moved from Postville to Waukon. Jim passed away in 2020, and Marlene moved to the Des Moines area to be closer to her children.

She was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school when she was younger. Marlene was active with the VFW Auxiliary in Waukon. She loved spending time with her family and always put other's needs ahead of her own. Marlene enjoyed working in her garden and housekeeping.

Survivors include her children: Gary (Carol) Klocke and Barbara Klocke, both of Grimes, IA; two grandchildren: Kelli (Tim) Lyon and Katie Klocke; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Faye Matteson of Hudson, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; and a brother Milton Mohs.
