Geraldine Ida Muchow

POSTVILLE — Geraldine I. Muchow, 75, of Postville, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 at Grandview Care Center, Oelwein.

Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant. Burial was at St. Paul Cemetery in Monona.

Geraldine Ida, the daughter of Donald and Verda (Schultz) Williams was born on August 16, 1948. She was baptized on August 22, 1948 at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. Geraldine graduated from Valley High School in Elgin on May 26, 1967.

Geraldine was united in marriage with James E. Baker in June 1969. To this union one daughter was born. James and Geraldine later divorced. She later married Eldon Muchow on May 18, 1991, and he passed away on July 2, 2016.

Throughout her life Geraldine worked for Gemini Products in Decorah, Iowa Turkey Products in Postville, cleaned houses in the surrounding communities and finally worked for Super 8 Motel in Decorah. Geraldine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, listening to music, playing cards and spending time with her animals.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Vicky (Mike) Koch of Randalia; two grandchildren, Dalton (Keely) Koch of St. Olaf, Trevor (Katie) Koch of Janesville; her mother, Verda Mae Nuehring of West Union; sister, Ramona Fels of West Union and brothers, Roger Williams of Chicago, Ill. and Ronald Nuehring of Texas.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her father, Donald Williams and a sister, Carol Constable.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
