Amelia “Marie” Schlee

Amelia “Marie” Schlee, 91, of Postville, Iowa died Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society in Postville, Iowa. Amelia Marie was born July 28, 1930 to Mike and Ruth (Connor) Adrian in Elgin, Iowa. She graduated high school.

Marie was united in marriage with William Fredrick Schlee on November 19, 1949. Six children were born to this union. Marie helped work on the farm while raising six children. Marie’s hobbies included playing cards, golfing and bowling. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, a member of the Red Hat Society and an active member and volunteer of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Marie enjoyed going out to eat, shopping and spending time outdoors. She loved being with her family and following the kids and grandkids in activities.

Surviving Marie are her children, Mary Ann Crawford of Postville, Iowa, Connie Farrington of Postville, Iowa, Barbara Wortinger of Michigan, Laurie (Sam) Curnow of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Bill Schlee of Postville, Iowa and Tim (Annette) Schlee of Waukee, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Preceding Marie in death are her parents, Mike and Ruth Adrian; her husband, William Schlee; her siblings, Jack Adrian, Letha Ryan and Paul Adrian; grandson, Steven Anderson and nephew, Ed Adrian.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa Pastor Daryl Schultz as the officiant.

A Celebration of Life will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, Postville, Iowa.
