The bi-annual Diversity Celebration, with food tasting this year, was held in the Postville School’s Fine Arts Center on Sunday, April 6.

The event started with food tasting from several different nations, including from Thailand, Japan, Somalia, Norway, Guatemala, Mexico, Israel, and the Philippines.

After the food tasting, the Diversity Program was held in the school’s gym.

There was a parade of nations, which featured students from the Postville High School carrying flags from every nation that people in the community come from or the school has students from. There was also a quinceanera demonstration, with several girls and their parents showing the dresses and traditions of it. Several dances were performed, including swing dancing, a country line dance, a Guatemalan dance, a Hispanic line dance, and a Mexican dance. The Postville school’s flag squad performed, as well as the cheer squad, and there was a trivia contest and a solo song. A pinata was also hung for the children, who lined up for a chance to hit it before diving for the candy that fell out of it when it broke open.
