Postville to welcome RAGBRAI XLV riders Friday

In just a few days RAGBRAI riders will be cycling into Postville. As bikes are welcomed into Postville on Friday, they will be greeted by a plethora of entertainment and food vendors. During the time the riders are in town, several streets will be closed. They are Murdock Street, Bancroft Street, South Reynolds Street and Military Road.

Postville’s population will be more than quadrupled as the bikers enjoy what we have to offer here in this corner of the state. Thousands of cyclists will surely stop for a rest and nourishment. As cyclists will be in Postville throughout the day, residents may have a hard time crossing the road or getting out of their driveways. They are asked to plan accordingly.

For the safety of pets and the riders, all animals should be on a lease if they are going to be anywhere near the activities.

Children should be kept away from the road and pathways of RAGBRAI. They should not be allowed to ride their bikes along with the riders.

However, children are invited to meet at Second Best Resale located on the corner of Lawler and Tilden Streets Friday between 7:30 and 8 a.m. for Chalk the Walk. Each child will be able to help decorate with a message or drawing with sidewalk chalk to welcome the RAGBRAI riders to town.

Some of the entertainment includes the band Challenger in the beer garden, Los Heroes De Ooxaca band in Roberts’ Park and DJ Dave Gallagher on East Greene Street.

There is still time to get involved with the festivities. Log on to Postville RAGBRAI 2017 on Facebook to stay updated on events leading up to Friday’s pass through. Anyone having question should call City Hall at (563) 864-7454.
