Keith LeRoy Roffman

Keith LeRoy Roffman, 81, of Postville, Iowa, died July 26, 2020, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. Keith was born October 30, 1938, in Postville, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm in Franklin Township, the third of four sons of late Otto James Roffman and the late Cecilia L. (Regan) Roffman.

Keith attended Rural Evergreen Country School from Kindergarten till 8th Grade. He graduated in 1956 from Postville High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army Reserves serving 6 1/2 years. After his service he farmed with his parents.

In 1965, he married Ronna Hubbartt and adopted her two girls, Brenda and Shelley. Brian Keith was born to this union. They later divorced.

In 1972 he purchased his own farm along the Yellow River in Allamakee County. Keith’s pride and passion was farming.

On January 13, 1984, Keith married Dorothy Betts. They enjoyed living and working on the farm. In their free time their hobbies included motorcycle riding, tennis, golfing, walking in his timber checking the walnut trees, and playing cards with family and friends. Keith was a member of the American Legion Post 518, Postville, Iowa. Later in life Parkinson’s Disease limited his mobility; however, he still found time to follow sports (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes) and loved watching his grandson, Kellen, grow up.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of Postville, Iowa, a son, Brian (Kristi) Roffman, their son Kellen of Decorah, Iowa, daughter, Shelley (Gary) Hesla, their children Brooke (Rob) Lambrose, their daughter Reese, and Brett Hesla of Crown Point, Indiana, daughter, Brenda Pervin, her children Mandy Snitker of Waukon, Iowa, Zachary Ullom of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, John Pervin, and son Jordan of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, his brother, John (Joellen) Roffman of Iowa City, Iowa, sister-in-laws Laura Mae Roffman of Postville, Iowa, and Georgean Roffman of Sioux City, Iowa, step-daughters, Rita Hassett of Lanesboro, Minnesota, Doris (Leigh) Rolfshus of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Susan Betts of Lanesboro, Minnesota, Patricia Vatland of Chewelah, Washington, Yvonne Martin of Pleasant Lake, Michigan, Charlene Draper of Lanesboro, Minnesota, dearest friends Jim and Cathy Gelo of Postville, Iowa, and numerous nieces, nephews, and step grand and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Northgate Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for the kind and loving care given to Keith.

In lieu of memorials and flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital. Cards and condolences can be sent to Dorothy Roffman, 885 Smithfield Drive, Postville, Iowa, 52162.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
