James Harold Lenth

James Harold Lenth, 76, of Castalia, Iowa died Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Eden Acres in Perry, Iowa. James was born October 16, 1946 to Sylvan Lester and Marjorie (Torkelson) Lenth in Postville, Iowa. James was a state qualifying wrestler and graduated from Postville High School in 1964

On September 11, 1965, James was united in marriage with Marilyn Jo Smith. Throughout the years, James worked for forty years on a dairy farm raising their three boys outside of Frankville. After farming for five years he operated an end loader for the Frankville Wood Plant before retiring and building a home and moving to Castalia.

James enjoyed playing cards, golfing, water skiing and playing softball. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, snow mobiling and deer hunting. His greatest joy was watching his boys wrestle, play football and watch Ryan in the Special Olympics. James was a sports fan and cheered on the New York Yankees, Indianapolis Colts and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Surviving James are his wife, Marilyn Lenth of Castalia, Iowa; children, Randy (Julie) Lenth of Fertile, Iowa, Rick (Sandra) Lenth of Kingston, Illinois and Ryan Lenth of Woodward, Iowa; Grandchildren, Summer (Nick) Morgan of Portland, Oregon, Tyler Lenth of Bondurant, Iowa, Royce Lenth of Waterloo, Iowa, Rott Kitchell of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Teddy (Senait) Lenth of Addis, Ethiopia, Mesfin Lenth of Los Angeles, California, Pandora Lenth of Houston, Texas, Leo Lenth of Houston, Texas, Eyerus Lenth of Oregon, Illinois, Won Lenth of Houston, Texas and Mekdes Lenth of Kingston, Illinois; great-grandchild, Avery Lenth; siblings, Les and Maria Lenth of Las Vegas, Nevada and Karen and John Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Marjorie Lenth.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Friday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa with Pastor Karla Johnson as the officiant.

A Luncheon will follow the service.

Burial will follow the luncheon in the Frankville Cemetery in Frankville, Iowa.
