Interlibrary loan - available at your Postville Public Library
Here at the Postville Public Library, we try our best to purchase books we think our community will read. Of course between budget constraints and physical space, we can’t always have every book you might want, but this is where interlibrary loans (ILL) come in! We are very lucky in the state of Iowa to have a robust interlibrary loan system. We can borrow books from almost every library in the state! This means we can find almost every book you might want. The unfortunate news is that due to federal cuts to the IMLS budget (Institute of Museum and Library Services) we have lost a significant portion of the grants that run this program. The state library has made the difficult decision to change ILL services to one day a week instead of 2. This means that instead of receiving a book in 2-7 days, patrons will now be waiting 7-14 days. Many librarians in the state are also concerned that this program could face more cuts in the future, so if you think this program is important - contact your representatives and let them know!
