Dollars for Scholars - Matching Colleges

David Koopman
Vice Pres., Postville District Dollars for Scholars

One of the benefits for Postville High School seniors applying for a scholarship through the local chapter of Postville District Dollars for Scholars is the possibility of receiving some matching funds from the college they attend after high school. While there are dozens nationwide providing this benefit, there are nine in Iowa that do so.  The amount matched can range from $100 to $1,000.  Colleges in Iowa who have a matching program are:  Allen College (Waterloo), Buena Vista University (Storm Lake), Coe College (Cedar Rapids), Drake University and Grand View University (Des Moines), Loras College (Dubuque), Northwest Iowa Community College (Sheldon), Southeast Community College (West Burlington), and Waldorf College. While this featured bonus may not be large, with college costs so high today, it is nonetheless helpful.

There are thirty of the PHS Senior Class of 2022 who have applied for Postville District Dollars for Scholars Scholarships.  They will be receiving their awards on Wednesday, May 4th, at 7 PM, in the Fine Arts Center.  This is the 32nd year for our local chapter and cooperating organizations helping local graduates continuing their education.
