Casey’s General Store opens in new location; Grand Opening is this Friday and Saturday

Casey’s General Store, which began as a  Postville business in the 1970’s, opened at its original location on West Tilden Street over 45 years ago. The store was originally owned by Don Fauser of Elgin and the first store manager was the late Katie Kerr Scheffert. 

Although the store began as Casey’s General Store, it operated as a Guppy’s on the Go for several years before being purchased by the Casey’s Corporation.

Cindy Schultz, who replaced Kerr as manager, is just the second manager in store history. The assistant manager is Deb Heins. 

Within the last year, the Casey’s Corporation purchased the property which formerly housed The Pit Stop, from the Farmer’s Union Cooperative, with the intention of building a new, larger store.
