26th Annual Castalia Tractor Days Celebration set for June 9,10

The 26th annual Castalia Tractor Days will be held Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10.

The festivities will begin with a Firemen’s Water Fight on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Castalia Fire Department is sponsoring the event which will be held on the west end of Castalia on Military Road. Those departments wishing to participate should show up on Military Road between 11 a.m. and noon to register.

Sunday’s events begin with the Church service at Zion Lutheran Church with all community members and guests invited to attend.

All entries for the parade should be lined up by 11 a.m. as the parade is slated to begin promptly at noon. The featured tractor, which will lead the parade, is a 1956 Allis-Chalmers WD45 which is owned by Randy “Buzz” Hemesath of Ossian.

This year’s Grand Marshal is longtime Castalia resident, Virginia Brown.

The Tractor Day committee encourages entries of all types. Along with tractors, both old and new, floats, cars, horses and walking units are also welcome.

Following the parade, the day will be full of activities for kids and adults alike.

At 12:30 p.m. music by Lil’ Dale and the Legends will begin in City Park.

Quilts of Valor will be presented to deserving local veterans at 1:30 p.m. Some of the women who designed and pieced the quilts will be a part of the presentation.

The pie auction and raffle drawings will be held at 2:15 p.m. with pies and other donated items going to the highest bidders.

AndyLand Amusements will be on the grounds  to entertain the kids throughout the afternoon.

After having worked up an appetite, those in attendance can enjoy lunch at the Bloomfield 4-H Food Stand. Treats will also be offered at the Moo Mobile which is sponsored by the Postville Childcare Services.

Tee Shirts and raffle tickets are currently available at Susie’s First Chance in downtown Castalia.
