Wrestlers host home dual meet; place fourth at Central Tournament as Camarillo brings home first place medal

Pirate wrestlers place fourth at Central Tournament.


Last Thursday evening the Pirates hosted a home dual meet against Starmont and Central. It was Parents’ Night as the seniors and their parents were honored in between matches.

Central Tournament

The Pirates participated in the Central Invitational tournament last Saturday where they scored 111 points and finished in fourth place on the day.

Team totals were as follows:

New Hampton Turkey Valley 228.5; Waukon, 217; Decorah JV, 126; Postville, 111; Clayton Ridge, 108; Central City, 77; Central Elkader, 7.

Wrestling at the 120 weight class, Uvaldo Camarillo brought home the first place medal.

Riley Rankin at 106 was second as were Caleb Hughes at 113, Roberto Lopez at 285 and Isaac Steffans at 220.

Other wrestlers scoring points were Wilson Perez at 113 who finished fourth, Arnoldo Lopez at 182 who was fifth and Brayan Silva at 160 who finished sixth.

Thursday night the Pirates travel to Clayton Ridge for a dual meet and Saturday they will participate in a tournament in Decorah.
