Volleyball girls fall to Turkey Valley in three sets as Schager leads the team in kills

The Pirate Volleyball team traveled to Turkey Valley last Tuesday where they lost the match 3-0. The set scores were 14-25, 16-25 and 18-25.

Callie Schager led the team in kills with six. Lindsey Hangartner had three and Katie Linderbaum added one kill on the night. Nayeli Vega had seven assists while Hangartner and Peyton Smith added one each.

Decorah Tournament

The girls played in the Decorah tournament Saturday. They played well at times and in other sets they faltered.

Schultz said, “I think we play toward our competition. We played very well against Decorah and Wapsie Valley who is ranked 5th in the state in Class IA. We took one set from Central and lost a close one to South Winn, 21-17.”

This week the girls are slated to host Clayton Ridge Thursday, October 3 starting at 5:30 p.m.

Rescheduled game: The ninth, junior varsity and varsity volleyball match that was to be held in Postville Tuesday, October 1 against South Winneshiek has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 17.
