Speech students advance to State in several categories

Several students from Postville High School competed at the Individual District Speech Contest last Saturday.

Khiaya Burns advanced to the State level in two categories as she received I ratings in Radio News and Original Oratory. Congratulations are in order for this special recognition.

Earning I ratings and advancing to State were Estevan Sanchez, Acting; Aleesa Lavrenko, Solo Musical; Emily Frey, Prose and Hannah Hughes, Original Oratory; and Wilson Perez, Acting.

Those receiving II ratings were Madyson Jones, Literary Prose; Hayden Pearce, Literary Prose and Spontaneous Speaking; Hannah Hughes, Poetry; Aleesa Lavrenko, Poetry; Emily Frey, Public Address; Jesus Hernandez, Prose and Hilary De La Rosa, Prose.

Speech Coach Derek Friederich said, “I am extremely proud of our Pirate Performers. We are looking forward to State Contest on Saturday, March 14 at Starmont High School.
