Soccer team picks up wins against Denver and Charles City in action at home last week

The Pirate soccer team had a good week last week as they picked up two wins despite the fact that they were battling through some injuries.

Denver

Tuesday the Pirates hosted Denver. The final score was Postville 1 - Denver 0. 

After 71 minutes of scoreless soccer, Abdikadar Mohamed was fouled in the penalty box and awarded a penalty kick. Junior Samater Ali converted the penalty to give the Pirate the go-ahead goal. 

Charles City

Thursday Postville hosted winless Charles City and came away with a 10-3 victory. 

The Pirates started off slow but got a one goal lead after an Abdikadar Mohamed penalty kick.

Postville were slated to play Class 1A ninth-ranked Dyersville Beckman Catholic on Monday, May 14 in Dyersville and the Pirates host Waverly-Shell Rock on Thursday. Playoff soccer starts on Monday, May 21 for the Pirates in Dyersville where they will play Monticello in first round action.
