Several returning letter winners will form nucleus of Pirate Football team

As Luke Steege begins his sixth year as head football coach of the Postville Pirates, he has 26 total years of coaching experience under his belt. Assistant coaches on the football staff include Bryan Mueller, RJ Olsen and Zach Steffans.

Returning letter winners on this year’s squad are Harrison Dehning, a senior, who plays quarterback. Other seniors are Cole Walch, offensive and defensive line; Andrew Hernandez, also offensive and defensive line; Wilmar Marroquin, running back and Egan Guerrero, line backer.

This Friday night the Pirates will participate in the annual scrimmage and player auction. Clayton Ridge will come to Postville to participate in the scrimmage.

They open the season Friday, August 24 at home against Sumner-Fredericksburg. Kick-off is at 7 p.m..

The following Friday night, August 31, they will travel to Monona to face long-time foe MFL MarMac.
