Runners turn in good times at MFL MarMac meet

The cross country teams ran in the MFL MarMac meet at Tri-City two weeks ago.

Running for the girls were Sandy Lopez, Yaritzy Hernandez, Monica Santoya and Laura Roman.

The meet was won by Kee High followed by Central, MFL MarMac and Maquoketa Valley. Not fielding a full team, the girls’ did not accumulate a team score.

Lopez finished 26th with a time of 28:55.59 and Hernandez was right behind her at 27th. Her time was 29:06.69. Santoya was 30th with at time of 30:25.91

The boys, were also unable to compete for a team score, however competing in the race were Brayan Silva, Daniel Garland Stern and Wilson Sajcap.

Maquoketa Valley took top honors with 31 team points. Kee was second, Central third, MFL MarMac fourth, East Buchanan fifth and Clayton Ridge sixth.

Silva finished the race in 15th place with a time of 20:25.12. Garland-Stern was 30 with a time of 21:13.44. Finishing in 32nd place was Sajcap whose time was 22:13.78.

Cross Country is set to run at the Elkader Golf and Country Club Thursday, September 14 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
