Reynolds, Gregg make first local stop since transition

Governor Kim Reynolds (R, Iowa) and acting Lt. Governor Adam Gregg (R) made their first visit in northeast Iowa since taking office Thursday, meeting employees and board members at the Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative (ACEC) in Postville last Thursday.

Reynolds called the visit and others like it in each of Iowa’s 99 counties “a great opportunity to get into communities all across the state and really understand what’s happening in the business world or in our schools or in startup companies.

“To better understand what you’re doing and talk about some of the priorities that we have in place and to see if there are any concerns that you have that we can work collectively with your representatives down at the capitol,” she said.

Reynolds said the state continues to grow despite revenue not meeting Revenue Estimating Conference projections.

“When I talk to business across the state they’re very optimistic and are growing,” she said.

The governor said the workforce is the biggest challenge to building Iowa’s economy.
