Postville residents attend open house in honor of Fire Prevention Week
The Postville Fire Department hosted an open house in honor of Fire Prevention Week last Thursday at the fire station. Several hundred guests were treated to a meal of turkey tenders, maid-rites, potato salad and more.
Guests also were able to register for door prizes as they interacted with firefighters. Several community members went through fire extinguisher training as well.
A free will donation was taken to kick off the local department’s annual fund drive.
The theme for Fire Prevention Week this year was, “Every Second Counts: Plan Two Ways Out.” As community members reflect on last week’s activities, they should remember that fire escapes save lives and every family should have an alternate escape route when they are faced with a fire or any home disaster.
