Postville Board of Education approves senior trip; sets salaries for administration and others

The Postville Board of Education addressed several agenda items at its meeting April 10.

Instructors Sara Kelllogg and Brooke Rooney addressed the Board concerning Carolina Science and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Several hires were approved: Nick Zieman, who teaches physical education, was approved as a volunteer golf coach. 

Daneshia Snitker was hired to teach junior senior high math; Aleya Stanbrough will teach ESL; Jennifer Fangman will be the new preschool special education teacher; Amanda Rude, elementary teacher; Jenna Beatty, elementary teacher. Clarissa Kjosa was hired as a 1:1 special education paraproffesional. She will be paid $11.35 per hour.

Rita Lyngaas resigned as a worker in the lunch room. Stewart Otting resigned as a third grade teacher at the end of the current school year.

Jennifer Harmon will transfer within the elementary school as she will teach kindergarten in the fall. Mary Guese will be a .5 K-6 instructional coach.

Senior Class sponsors  Susan Schlein and Amy Norby addressed the Board regarding the Senior Trip to Minneapolis on May 18-19. The trip was approved by the Board.

The final day of school was set for May 24, 2017 and teachers will have two additional professional development days which are scheduled for May 20 and 31.
