Postville’s Big Four Fair and Hometown Celebration will also include the Allamakee County Dairy Days Parade

Join us in Postville for a great fun-filled weekend June 15- June 17. The Hometown Celebration combined with the Big Four County Ag Fair will make it double the fun. To add to the festivities, Postville is also hosting the Allamakee County Dairy Parade this year as the parade will be combined with the Hometown Celebration Parade.

There will be something for everyone. The event will kick-off Friday with the Allamakee County Dairy Parade combined with the Postville Hometown Parade  at 7 p.m. “Agriculture MOOving America” is the parade theme.

Grand Marshals for this year’s parade are Robert and Sandy Deering and Carol and the late Charles Deering all of Postville. The Deering family has been very active in the Postville area agricultural community for several generations.

Line-up for the parade will begin  at 6:30 p.m. at Lull’s Park. Each entry will be assigned a number for the line-up. All entrants are asked to fill out an entry form and return it to the Postville City Hall by fax at (563) 864-7407, email to or mail to Postville City Hall, P.O. Box 242, Postville, Iowa 52162. Deadline to register is Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

The crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Postville will follow the parade. 

A DJ will play at the fair grounds from 8 p.m. to midnight. 

A variety of Big Four Fair events include Lego creations, a baking contest, 4-H displays, and the dog show are all on Friday.

The baking contest will be two separate categories this year: Scotcheroos or Bars. Anyone may enter and there is no age limit. Eight pieces of your favorite homemade Scotcheroos and/or Bars. The dairy, rabbit, poultry, meat goat, and open hog shows are on Saturday and Sunday the beef and sheep shows will take place.
