Pirates trounce Starmont Stars 53-0 as offense and defense click on all cylinders

On a cold and blustery night, the Pirates would take on Starmont at home Friday night. The Pirates were in control from the beginning as they scored 18 points in the first quarter and six more in the second as they took a 24-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. They would end up winning the game 53-0.

Leading the team in tackles were Favian Salgado, 7.5; Steffans and White, 6.5 and Enzo Jochola, 5.5.

Following the game, Johnson noted, “We had several game changing plays this week. The two safeties were big for us and other big plays, including Lorea’s 39 yard TD run and Gonzalez’s pick six helped us accomplish our goal. I want to highlight the offensive play of Robert White for his 147 yards rushing and three TD’s to lead the way tonight.”

This week the Pirates travel to North Tama who is undefeated. The coach said, “North Tama is a strong opponent. They play good defense and really try to control field position throughout the game. They run a well-balanced spread attack that we will prepare for this week.”
