PEARL levy to come before voters Feb. 6

Residents in the Postville Community School District will be going to the polls on Tuesday, February 6 to vote on the authorization to levy a tax upon all taxable property within the school district not to exceed thirteen and one half cents per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. If passed, the funds raised are to be used for public educational and recreational activities and community education purposes.

This levy, also known as PEARL (Public Education and Recreation Levy), is a special measure being brought before residents of the district.

The voting will take place from noon to 8 p.m. at Turner Hall. Persons may vote absentee in the Auditor’s office at the Allamakee County Courthouse between now and February 6.

Voters may request an absentee ballot by mail by contacting the Auditor’s office to have a request form mailed to them, or print out a request form from http://www.allamakee.us/auditor2. All completed forms must be returned to the Auditor’s office. The last day for a voter to request a ballot be mailed to them is January 26. The last day to vote absentee in the Auditor’s office is Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11 a.m.
