Loera-Munoz wins local competition in Lions International Peace Poster Contest

Jesus Loera-Munoz, a sixth grade student at Cora B. Darling Elementary School, has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning a local competition  sponsored by the Postville Lions Club.

“There is a pathway to peace by saying no to racism,” the 11-year-old from Postville said. The poster was selected by a committee led by President Lavrenko for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “Journey of Peace.” The judging was held on October 18 at the Schroeder home.

Locally, Loera-Munoz and three other students were honored for their participation by the Postville Lions Club on November 4 at the Brick Oven Pizza and Eatery in Postville.
