Kleve will head the Lady Pirate basketball program

Kimberly Kleve has joined the Pirate coaching staff this year as the head girls basketball coach. Erin Hutchins, who is also the middle school basketball coach, will be joining Kleve as the assistant coach, once the middle school season is over.

Although there are no returning letter winners on the team, Kleve has several players who have shown talent and promise. Mackenzie Mohs, a freshman, has shown in practice that she has good ball handling skills; Katie Linderbaum also has shown some good things but will need to get healthy.

Kleve said, “I have three seniors to lead the JV team in Lakken Cox, Alissa Wenthe and Becca Weller. Other girls who saw some action last year are Kelsey Mucia, Sandy Lopez and Peyton Smith.”

The girls play Waukon at home beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, November 30 and host West Central on Friday in a busy first week of action.
