H. E. A. R. T. , Helping Every Animal Rescue Team, working together for the betterment of animals

It is a well-known fact that many domesticated animals are abused, abandoned and treated poorly. A group of local volunteers are doing their best to alleviate the poor treatment of animals.

The group, H.E.A.R.T., which stands for Helping Every Animal Rescue Team, is a non profit 501(c)3 consisting of a team of dedicated animals lovers who just want the best for animals.

H.E.A.R.T. is a local organization that serves Northeast Iowa, Southeast Minnesota and Southwest Wisconsin.

The goal is to make sure animals  H.E.A.R.T. volunteers care for receive the best care possible. This include care from the veterinarian and care within the foster home.

Animals, the group explained, are rescued either by submitting an owner surrender, the occasional stray that may be taken in and also by a representative of a puppy mill of dogs that the mill no longer wants.

To find more information about H.E.A.R.T. you may log on to www.heartrescueteam.com or look them up on Facebook at HEART Helping Every Animal Rescue Team.

Another way to support the group is by participating in H.E.A.R.T. events. An upcoming event being sponsored by H.E.A.R.T. is their third annual Walk ‘N Wag Dog Walk which will be held May 4 at the Waukon City Park. The starting point will be the Jaycee Shelter. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk will commence at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and door prizes will be awarded.
