Coach Kleve reflects on Lady Pirate season as they look forward to playing a varsity schedule

The Lady Pirates ended their junior varsity season earlier this month with a year-end banquet. About the season, first year coach Kim Kleve said, “Because I was hired right before the season started, I was not able to work with the girls in the off-season. They had to learn how I coach, what I expected out of them as players, as well as learning more about the basics of basketball in a short time. Overall, they did well. I had a few bumps in the road, with girls not showing up to practice or putting in the time, which I have never experienced before in my five years of coaching.”

She noted that the girls grew as a team as they built an understanding of defense, learned how to run their offense and what is expected to become a team.
