City Council discusses final payments on wastewater treatment facility; pursues action on Fire Department audit

The Postville City Council met via Zoom Monday, May 11 as the Governor’s proclamation forbidding meetings of groups of more than two was still in place. Along with the Council, interested community persons and others were able to attend the meeting either by Zoom or by placing a conference call.

Following a public hearing, a budget amendment was accepted for Fiscal Year 2019-20. The amendment, as published in the Postville Herald, reflected the possibility of minor changes to the current budget.

As no bids had been received for the purchase of the 2011 Police Car (Tahoe), it was the recommendation of Police Chief Matt Ellis that the minimum bid of $9,000 be removed from the ad and the deadline to accept bids be extended until June 8, 2020. After clarification that any and all bids could be rejected if the bids came in too low, a motion was approved to reflect the changes noted above.
