Camarillo finishes in eighth place at State Wrestling Tournament in the 120 pound weight class

Senior Uvaldo Camarillo, after finishing second in the district meet, earned a trip to the State Wrestling Meet at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines last weekend. Although he lost the first round to the eventual state champion, Camarillo would end his career on the podium with an eighth place finish.

With his eighth place finish, Camarillo participated in the Grand March will all the other place winners as well as standing on the podium during the medal presentations.

Following the competition his coaches said, “Uvaldo has been a hard worker throughout his career and has done what has been expected of him. He only wrestled three years and won the conference twice, qualified for district all three years and was a state qualifier as a junior and senior, placing this year. He will be hard to replace. We are hopeful others will see his accomplishments and use it as motivation and see what can be done.”
