Burns open reception venue, “Old School Celebrations Barn” outside St. Olaf

Jeramey and Dana Burns have recently opened a reception venue on their home property near St. Olaf. The Burns, who have owned and operated Old School Catering for the past five years, held an open house last month at Old School Celebrations Barn, which they renovated during the past year. The barn, which is located just yards from the family home, was built in 1940.

Dana explained, “We moved here four years ago and actually used the barn for a cow and calf as recently as last year. When built, the barn had horse stalls and was used for milking at least 50 years ago.”

Asked how they decided to turn the barn into a reception venue, the couple said it just kind of evolved. Jeramey said, “I already do the catering and it just seemed natural to add the reception venue.”

In spite of all the dust and cobwebs, the couple had lots of ideas. They said, “We hired an Amish crew, ‘Bear Creek Construction’ and they worked with us to make our ideas become a reality.”
