Board of Education holds reorganizational meeting; Jeff Cox is elected board president

The Postville Community School District Board of Education met in regular session Monday, September 10 in the lobby of the fine arts and civic center.

Several items were approved under the consent agenda. They included the following hires: Susie Schlein, student ambassadors, ASAP; Yasin Dahir, paraprofessional and translator; Joanna Smith, elementary associate; Kayla Miller, elementary, junior, senior high associate; Kevin Johnson, assistant junior high football coach and April McQuade, elementary paraprofessional.

Resigning were Clarissa Kjosa as an elementary associate, Eric Lopez as a bilingual newcomer paraprofessional and Dave Peterson as a custodian.

Following a motion by Tony Gericke, Jeff Cox was nominated as Board President  and Staci Malcom was nominated as the vice president. The oath of office was administered to the new officers and Jamie Smith was thanked for his years of service as president.
