Armed robbery takes place in Postville October 3

The Postville Police Chief Matt Ellis, along with the Allamakee County Sheriff’s office, are asking for cooperation from residents of the City of Postville and the surrounding area. Am armed robbery took place about 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3 within the City limits of Postville.

The vehicle involved was a gray/silver Dodge Neon/Silverado. The victim reported it was a two-door vehicle that had boxes in the backseat as well as items in the back window.

The driver was described as an African-American male in his early 30’s who appeared to be between 5’4” and 5’6”.

Anyone who may have any information pertaining to this incident, should notify the Postville Police Department at 563-864-3234 or the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department at 563-568-4521.

Chief Ellis further stated, “If you see someone pull out in front of you trying to stop your vehicle, lock your doors and phone 9-1-1 at once. Back up if you are able and, do not communicate with the driver.”

As of The Herald’s press time on Monday, no arrests have been made in the case.

Police Chief Ellis said, “Although we feel Postville residents are in no imminent danger, we remind them to be observant at all times and to report any suspicious looking activities or vehicles.”
