Allamakee-Clayton REC holding 81st annual meeting

Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative held its 81st annual meeting Monday, September 16 in the Fine Arts Center at the Postville High School. Cooperative members approved reports from fiscal year 2018 and returned incumbents Roger Arthur of Sumner and Arlyn “Butch” Fossum of Waterville to their seats on the board of directors. Elected to the board of directors was Al Steffens of Clermont. Robert Swenson of Clermont did not seek re-election.

Prior to the business meeting, a meal was served and musical entertainment was provided by Root River Jam band.

Hollee McCormick, general manager, and Arthur presented on the Seven Cooperative Principles the REC follows on a daily basis, offering photos and examples of each.

Arthur then presented background information on guest speaker, Rand Fisher, President of Iowa Area Development Group.

Fisher offered information about Iowa Area Development Group and presented on “Winning the Lottery”. He then presented the Cooperative with an Economic Development Impact Award, which ACEC received in recognition of its extraordinary economic development accomplishments and commitment to local communities.

Skyler Kelly of Holy Cross and Michael Hagen of Waterville gave a brief report of their Washington D.C. Youth Tour experience. They described the sites they visited, explained how the trip helped them learn about legislator’s responsibilities in representing the state of Iowa and extended their appreciation for ACEC’s continued support of Youth Tour.

The board of directors held its reorganizational meeting immediately following the annual meeting. Officer re-elected was: Michael Gibbs of Waterville, vice president. Officers elected were: Jeff Bradley of Wadena, president and Cindy Heffern of Harpers Ferry, secretary/treasurer.
